Polish Medical Mission, together with the Italian organisation Terre Des Hommes, continues actions aimed at supporting the basic and specialist medical care for refugees from Syria as well as for displaced Iraqi families staying in five refugee camps, and also for the local population in the provinces of Diyala and Erbil in Iraq.
Medical care in this region is very limited. Refugees only have access to first medical aid and are not provided with any care of specialists, general practitioners or paediatricians.
The daily work of mobile clinic staff is research, medical appointments, interviews with patients. In the clinic work, among others nurse Noor and gynecologist Zina. They are testing blood sugar or pressure. They work, among others in a medical center in the Darashakran camp.
Thanks to the project that implements the PMM, the Polish flag was included in the list of countries supporting refugees in the camps in Kurdistan published by UNHCR thanks to the ongoing PMM project in the Erbil governorate. On one of the photos next to the board with the flags in the Harsham camp, pose: project coordinator Abdulrahman Shishani, PMM president Ewa Piekarska and project coordinator in the Iraqi Kurdistan, Małgorzata Olasińska.
