Nura Natah, a young mother from Syria whose harsh fate has become dear to you will soon have her arm prosthesis fitted on. She will be able to slowly recover, have rehabilitative treatment for her injured leg and give hugs to her children.
We thank you on her and our own behalf!
Nura has already visited the orthopaedic centre in Mersin where her prostheses were fitted. The whole process is being supervised by doctors from the Syrian organisation Balsam Mediorg, led by doctor Mansour Alatrash.
The details were reported by the newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza: The prosthesis is modern, it has an electronic wrist joint and a semi-electronic elbow joint; three fingers are bendable in it. It cost USD 16,000 and its mechanism is built in Germany at the OttoBock company. Nura has already tried it on at the orthopaedic centre in Mersin, Turkey. In a few weeks, the woman will have the fitting procedure performed and then she will be able to live a normal life. The funds for this prosthesis were collected by women of Krakow who organised a charity concert in April. The performers were Krakow’s artists, Grzegorz Turnau, Chór w Kontakcie - Wassim Ibrahim (with Aga Zaryan), and the ZPT Club made the venue available for free. Polish Medical Mission announced then public fundraising in order to cover the missing amount. It was successful.
