EVS (European Voluntary Service) is one of the projects of Erasmus+ programme which is supported by the European Commission. It allows young people to work as a volunteer in a different countries all over the world for 2 to 12 months.
EVS is a perfect occasion for personal development. European Voluntary Service facilitates contact with a different countries citizens, learning their customs and beliefs and a totally different culture. European Voluntary Service gives you unique memories and lasting friendship. It is also the opportunity to develop your competences, work on yourself and open to new experiences. But most of all, the EVS is a thorough and hard work.
Polish Medical Mission allows young people without professional experience serve as a volunteer in one of the EVS partner organizations. They are organizat ions operating in following areas: social welfare, equal opportunities, health care, assistance to disabled and socially excluded, promoting voluntarism, human rights and European values. PMM achieved accreditation in Erasmus+ programme as a sending, hosting and coordination organization.
The only formal requirement for qualifying for the EVS programme is the age. Candidate must be at least 17 and no more than 30 years old. Other requirements are motivation to leave the homeland for some time and to devote themselves to voluntary work for the local community.
EVS allows to leave the country for:
all European countries
countries that are not members of the EU but are included in the programme – Macedonia, Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Turkey
countries of the Eastern Partnership – Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldavia, Ukraine
contries of the south region of the Mediterranean Sea – Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, Tunisia
the so-called Western Balkans countries – Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia
Polish Medical Mission manages a new program in EVS called “Helping Hand”.
It has been started with the beginning of April 2016 thanks to help of FRSE. This project is realized with support of the Erasmus+ European Union programme and EVS.
Its main goals are:
– dialogue and international cooperation
– mobility and education
– active participation in social life
– help the needy and strengthen the attitudes of tolerance towards minorities and diversity
– promotion of voluntary service.
“Helping Hand” project has been established in cooperation with organizations from Poland, Spain and Russia.
Polish Medical Mission coordinates its operating and co-operates with Gaudium et spes Association, Asociación Juvenil Intercambia and Down Syndrom Association.
“Helping Hand” programme is realized with the financial support of the European Commission.
