Who is Nura?
She is 29 years old and comes from eastern Aleppo. Until recently, she lived there with her husband and four young children: Zahra, Sagar, Ahmad and Sheima. In August 2016, her house was bombed. Nura and her children found themselves under the rubble. She was found with one-year-old Ahmad in her arms; the boy had been killed. Seven-year-old Zahra did not survive either. Five-year-old Sagar and ten-year-old Sheima, who was badly wounded, managed to save their lives.
Nura was also severely wounded. Her crushed right arm had to be amputated. Currently, Nura is staying in the town of Gaziantep in Turkey. She is one of the patients of Doctor Mansour Alaytrash from the Syrian organisation Balsam Medical, which Polish Medical Mission collaborates with. She needs help urgently.
Approximately PLN 15,000 will be sufficient to cover the cost of an arm prosthesis and to restore the woman’s dexterity. Therefore we, that is a group of inhabitants of Krakow, who have this in common that we cannot watch indifferently the tragedy taking place in Syria, in collaboration with Polish Medical Mission and with the support of the Welcome to Krakow Initiative and the Sociology Students’ Academic Club at the Jagiellonian University, decided to organise the Concert for Nura.
The Zet Pe Te Club offered us the venue on charity terms and the MasterSound made their amplification system available to us free of charge.
The artists relinquished their royalties and the whole revenue from the tickets will be donated to the purchase of a prosthesis for Nura Nataah and the treatment of her 10-year-old daughter Sheima.
Be with us on 18 April! Let us show the force of solidarity embedded in the men and women of Krakow. Let it be an event that will connect Krakow with Aleppo for a day. Let us stretch the helping hand to Nura and help her to regain her arm!
