We invite you to take part in a charity art auction in favour of war victims in Syria. The auction will take place on 23rd April at Zmiana Klimatu (Białystok, 6 Warszawska str.) at 12.00. The total revenue from the auction will be deposited into medical aid for two hospitals, in western Aleppo and in Idlib. The initiator of the action is Ms Ewa Chacianowska and she is supported by Magdalena Godlewska-Siwerska – the President of the WIDOK Association of Cultural Education.
In the invitation to the auction, they wrote,
‘… Some of us more and more often skip the news on the cruelties of the war that has been raging in Syria unceasingly since 2011. With a sense of helplessness. How many times can you watch beautiful Aleppo turning into ruins, children’s tormented faces, families pleading for help? We write about it because even we ourselves – people from the Widok Association of Cultural Education, the organisers of the auction – felt for all those years that we were not able to do anything after all. But we have seen a lot of uplifting examples and we do not share the conviction that it is all too far away so we are not concerned, that it is a different culture and religion. We think that it is just such moments that are the touchstone of our humanity, regardless of the confession…’
We welcome people who believe that the essence of life is goodness, mutual respect, compassion and human solidarity; that even though we are living in the most beautiful of worlds, each one of us must add their own bit, make a goodwill gesture. Be with us on this day – 23rd April 2017 in Bialystok, from where we will be sending sincere thoughts to Syria. They are certainly as needed there as money.’
